Subject: Assistantships / Studentships Available

The Atmospheric Sciences Group of the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) announces the availability of financial support for Graduate Students starting in the Spring 1998 or Fall 1998. Assistantships are available in the areas of Regional Climate Modelling, Aerosols Modelling, Boundary Layer and Mesoscale Modelling, Radar Remote Sensing and Middle Atmosphere Modelling. Study leads to an M. Sc. degree in Atmospheric Sciences and/or a Ph. D. in Meteorology (in collaboration with McGill University). A Bachelor degree or equivalent in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering is required to enter the programmes. The teaching language at UQAM is French, but candidates can write their thesis in the language of their choice. All Faculty Members are fluent in French and English, and some in Italian and Spanish. The assistantships for M. Sc. level pay up to Can$ 12,000 and Can$ 18,000 for Ph. D. level. Foreign students who have to pay higher tuition fees may be compensated.
